Championship Formats

Men’s and Women’s Club Championships

Eligibility: Four or five players are eligible if they are dues-paying, league playing, individual members of a Minnesota curling club for the current year and are all members of the same MCA curling club.

Junior Men’s and Women’s Championships

Eligibility: Four of five players who are less than 21 years of age, up to the 30th day of June of the year immediately preceding the year of the competition, are eligible to play. Note: they must meet USCA eligibility requirements to play out of our region.

Mixed Championship

Eligibility: A mixed team can play if they meet the USCA eligibility requirements to play out of our region. Two of the four players must be members of a Minnesota curling club.

Formats for all Divisions

  1. Less than 10 teams – single team is outright winner unless two or more teams tie.

◊     2 teams – best two out of three games

◊     3-4 teams – double round robin

◊     5-9 teams – single round robin

  1. 10-14 teams – split round robin of two pools with semifinals and finals.

◊    top two teams from each pool advance to semifinals

◊    pools will be peer seeded prior to the start of the event

  1. 15-21 teams – split round robin of three pools with quarterfinals, semifinals and finals.

◊    top two teams from each pool advance

◊    4-rock shootout between top three teams will determine the top two teams to   advance directly to the semifinals. Remaining four teams play quarter-finals.

◊    pools will be peer seeded prior to the start of the event

  1. 22-28 teams – split round robin of four pools with semifinals and finals

◊    top team from each pool advances to the semifinals

◊    pools will be peer seeded prior to the start of the event

  1. 29+ teams – modified triple knockout

◊    standart tournament bracket

◊    a team losing a total of three games is eliminated from the competition

◊    bracket will be peer seeded at the team meeting prior to the start of the event

  1. Double knockout rule is in effect for any championship leading to Worlds (i.e. Juniors)

Ties will be broken by standard WCF tie-breaker procedures.

Entry Instructions

The following information is REQUIRED for entry:

  1. Each team member must complete online entry through the USCA website.
  2. Full payment of entry fees plus any applicable regional fees.
  3. Proof of citizenship, if not already listed on the USCA web site (world team trials and wheelchair only).
  4. Complete all health information and other related documents as part of the online entry process.

Note: The USCA will not allow any exception of the entry deadlines! All entry documents must be received at the USCA office by the deadline dates. Teams are encouraged to submit all entry documents to the USCA office at least two weeks in advance of the appropriate deadline.
